Eden
As a traveler, one was constantly being introduced to new climates and terrain, but this patch of land was especially foreign to our hyperactive little puffball. Her native land might as well have been an entirely different planet compared to this place. Snow and sub-zero temperatures were common, and the shoots of grass and plants lay buried under a thick frozen blanket for most of each year. Here, however, the grass was taller than her! She seemed to have picked the worst possible season to explore it as well, for the earth was more of a dense, smelly soup than solid ground.
A pair of white ears with a flailing tail to follow would bob in and out of sight as she hopped, leapt, and bounded through the muck. Her fur from the chin down was splattered and caked in mud and bits of fresh and rotting plant debris. Labored huffs and grunts could be heard with each spring of her hind legs. This land did not take kindly to her height...or lack thereof, but on the bright side, she at least had the muscle to plunge onward, with the occasional short break every now and then to catch her breath.
Once one cleared the surface of the sea of grass, they met a cool, relieving breeze. It wasn't a consistent one, but it was better than the atmosphere between the tall blades. It was a tad more humid there with insects galore!
"Where the...hell....am I?" She grumbled through her pants, and decided to quit her hopping for now and resort to plowing through the mud as best she could. Curse her short legs.
Not that it really mattered where she was. She was always moving from one place to the next anyway. What did matter was when she could reach the end of this maze! Or find more stable ground. Whichever came first.
